Stabeno College Consulting offers a broad range of college planning services guiding students and their parents with the college search and application process. As an experienced college consultant, Karen has the expertise and experience to help you successfully navigate this overwhelming process and meet your goals. Students and their families have begun working with Karen as early as their freshmen year of high school to understand the college admission process and select appropriate high school courses and extracurricular activities. Karen also assists college transfer students and often works remotely with students outside of the Portland metropolitan area, including internationally.

SERVICES

Karen's personalized services (hourly or package basis) include:

  • Evaluating the student's academic transcript, test scores, and extracurricular credentials.
  • Recommending appropriate college preparatory courses, summer experience ideas, developing extracurricular interests, and/or potential leadership opportunities.
  • Planning the best times for scheduling the PSAT, SAT, ACT, and other appropriate standardized tests.
  • Developing a list of appropriate college choices based on your child's values, interests, personal needs, goals, and academic profile.
  • Assisting the college-bound athlete with developing an athletic resume, providing information about the recruitment process, and developing an appropriate list of colleges.
  • Assisting students with learning differences, and other special needs, to achieve educational success with the timely completion of college applications, essay reviews, and obtaining quality recommendations.
  • Assistance preparing for campus visits and interviews, including mock interviews and role plays.
  • Assistance with applying for scholarships and need-based aid.
  • Assistance with assessing college acceptance offers and evaluating financial aid award letters.​
